Finally, March is here! The snow is almost all melted and we can start taking apart our old winter planters, cracking a window open for some fresh air, and getting our homes ready for the most exciting season. There’s something about that first warm day that inspires me every year to do a deep clean and freshen up my home for the warmer days to come.

Decorating your home for spring doesn’t mean you have to remodel your entire home. As a family of four, I tend to try to keep a nice tidy home however life often proves that messes happen, and that’s okay. Find joy in the little things and expand on them. Personally what I like to do each season is start room by room and eliminate any décor or clutter that has collected dust or reminds me of the season before. Once my canvas is clean, I’ll add little clusters of new and old pieces. I find pairing sentimental or vintage finds with new modern pieces helps make my space feel original and unique.

Something I find a lot of people tend to do is only decorate their main living space. What I like to do, is sprinkle tiny pieces of new life into each room. Whether it be as simple as a small vase with spring clippings or a brighter throw pillow to replace your more neutral winter ones. Its tiny bits of colour and texture that go a long way.

Decorating your home doesn’t mean staging your home. Design is a lot more than making something look “pretty”. It’s all about the way a space makes you feel. Think about all your senses. Find spring candles or oils that stimulate you and make you feel good. Use blankets, pillows and rugs to add texture and movement to your space. It will not only welcome your guests into your room but make them want to kick back and genuinely enjoy the moment.
